About the Artist
Judy is a “colorist” whose watercolors and pastels are a reflection of the California landscape that surrounds her. She is influenced by natural light and the vivid contrasts of shadows in nature. To set the mood, she uses rich colors in her landscapes and paintings that are photographed during her travels.
Her passion for the Arts and Crafts movement in America is depicted in her careful use of simple forms, harmonious lines and quality workmanship. She is a collector of Native American art and is a fan of Gustav Stickley, Green and Green, William Morris and reinterpreting the Arts and Crafts ideals for Americans. Her blending of bold strokes and colors, along with attention to detail, allows her to share her creative and spiritual connection with her environment.
Judy lives in the Los Angeles area and has a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from UCLA, as well as a degree in textile and fashion design from the Fashion Institute in Los Angeles.
Judy spent 16 years as a women’s clothing and fabric designer for well-known fashion manufacturers. She has costume experience, working with the John Ford Theatre and the Mark Taper Forum.
